This Sigma 18-250 DC OS HSM lens is amazing. The build quality is very high and it feels really solid but with a very smooth action. The image quality is superb and is well above what I expected of a superzoom lens. There is a little distortion at 18mm as is expected on a lens of this type but as soon as you go up the scale the distortions disappear. I have found that I can do a decent crop right through the range even at 250mm. The magnification is immense compared to my Sigma 17-70 (which is also a brilliant lens) and opens up so many more opportunities for my photography. The OS (optical stabilisation) works extremely well and makes it very easy to take a sharp photo even at the full range of 250mm. The AF (auto focus) is fast, sharp and very accurate as well as being very quiet thanks to the HSM motor. The images are sharp and capture very realistic and pleasing colour. These Sigma lenses are great lenses and brilliant value for money. I use a Canon 500D and I can recommend this Sigma 18-250 without any hesitation at all.
