Product: Canon 350D Body
This is the first digital SLR that I purchased after having used point and shoots for several years. SLRs tend to be much larger and I felt this was what was intimidating about them at first. But the 350D is still one of the smallest ones around, and in my opinion is still one of the best entry level SLRs money can buy. Having said that, to get the best in terms of image quality, you will eventually have to invest in large lenses. I havent extensively used the higher end models to compare (such as the 30D or 5D), but the image quality is superb on this camera. Noise levels are really low in daylight and well lit internal locations. Even in low light, the noise levels are still lower compared to point and shoots and other entry level SLRs. Moving from a point and shoot to the 350D does have a learning curve, but the results in terms of image quality are nothing short of stunning. Finally, to really get the most versatility and scope out of SLRs, I would suggest learning to take pictures in the RAW image format. Absolutely superb.
