Bought one of these as a birthday present to myself... could only afford it using this sites price listing and a discount code! Im amazed at the performance of the E-PL1, it really is exceptional for such a small camera. There are many menus and sub-menus that give access to a whole wealth of options that can be changed to customise the camera. For many people who want a high-quality point-and-shoot there may never be a reason to go delving this far. But I usually shoot with a DSLR and am something of an amateur enthusiast. Even so, I think it is going to take me a long time to explore and experiment with the various settings available to me. Meantime I am just enjoying the JPEG files that the camera produces. The standard kit lens may be a little on the slow side compared to the constant f/2.8 I use on my DSLR, but with auto-ISO this is not proving to be much of a limitation so far. Another bonus is that the standard lens has a sliding switch that enables it to shrink to about half its normal length when the camera is switched off. It may not fit in the small camera pouches but its much smaller that all the other compact system cameras with kit zooms. One issue may be finding filters that fit the 40.5mm lens thread; also the standard lens cap is so light that Im worried of dropping and losing it, without realising that Ive dropped it.
Now, I just have to save up for another lens and/or some adapters to take my Nikon fitting (and old Canon FD) lenses......
