Ive owned this 60mm macro lens for over a year now and heartily agree with the other reviews published here. I have used it on a 300D camera with excellent results in macro and portrait mode. I now am using a 450D so can expect a further jump in image quality when I get around to attaching it to it. Build quality is very good, feels like a solid piece of kit.

This really is a superb lens.
I have had this lens for two weeks and from the very first shoot with it I am getting fantastic results way better than I expected for the money, more like an L series lens. I bought after reading several very good reviews and they are not wrong.
This really is a hidden gem of a lens.
If you want a macro lens and have an EF-S lens mount then give this baby a try, I can find nothing wrong with it except the usual Canon meanness of not providing a lens hood. Canon want nearly £30 for one, fortunately there are plenty of Chinese copies on eBay for about a tenner they fit perfectly OK and work just the same.

Bought this lens about 9 months ago to compliment my Canon 400D Im not really into the technical stuff "Chromatic abberations and the like etc.
But as far as I am concerned from a general users point of view, this lens is stunning both as a portrait lens( 96mm on non full frame X 1.6 DSLRs ) and on macro,Its streets ahead of the kit lens but as the saying goes " you get what you pay for ". the USM drive is quiet & accurate but can " hunt" a bit especially on macro shots ( although using a tripod generally eliminates this unless theres a breeze )the optical quality is excellent and really demonstrates what a Prime lens can do, its a fast lens and really flattens DOF when its wide open, the build quality is A++ if you want a quality prime portrait/macro lens then IMHO this is the lens to buy
