They had a good price for an expensive lens so I ordered online and booked a day for delivery. The day before delivery i got emails, one saying it might not be delivered on the day requested and then another saying it would be and i would get further details. It turns out the lens was not even in stock and i was left sitting around for a delivery that was never coming. I eventually got hold of someone over the phone who gave me this information and offered another delivery date. Having lost trust in them i finally gave up and asked for a refund. I will make sure and check I actually get the refund next week. Very amateurish! I would only try them again if the price was very tempting i.e. £150+ cheaper than any where else.

As with many shops, I am sure the service differs from branch to branch. Service has always been OK for me, but my expectations have never been unrealistically high. Remember this is an electronic goods store. I may know more about cameras than they do but I am sure they know more about vacuum cleaners.

I used this company to buy online a lens in the region of £900 and it was delivered in a somewhat tatty box (not doubled boxed). I was unhappy about this and, although Id bought online, it said in the returns conditions that I could just bring it to any store and I would get a refund. I took the lens to 2 different stores and both times the customer service people were told to make excuses by their managers even though I was in the right regarding their returns policy. I am now consulting expert advice to see what I can do. Also I have very good reason to suspect the lens was not new but a refurb. My advice would be to buy camera equipment from a camera store or online camera store. You buy from Currys at your own risk!

A very unfortunate experience:
I tried to take advantage of the recent price drop on the Olympus E3 and used the discount code posted on this site. My order was logged, but after having received no confirm email that the transaction was proceeding, I called up customer services. I was told that my card company was withholding authorisation. I therefore went to the card company to query this and was told that authorisation had been given on the day of purchase - they gave me an authorisation number to confirm this and to pass to Currys. This I did and waited, having been assured that my order would be prioritised. Nothing happened. I phoned again, and this time was told that the issue was being dealt with at Head Office and would quickly be resolved. Nothing happened. I phoned again and was this time told that Head Office would need to manually confirm my purchase. Four days after placing the order and having seen no movement from Currys on the issue, I decided to cancel. All I wanted to do was buy a camera from these people.

Ordered Canon EOS500D + EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens on a Sunday evening (they had a 10% discount offer until the Monday morning, which made it cheaper than anywhere else) and it was delivered by DHL at Tuesday lunchtime. All-in-all Im one very satisfied customer (and theres the Canon £50 cashback to look forward to as well).

Will price match but only with local stores who are identical in price to them, waste of time dont you think?
