Abysmal trade in offer for a Sony alpha A7ii plus grip against an alpha A7Riii. Their attitude was " if you`ve been offered more then buy it from there". I have been offered significantly more so Wilkinsons will not get my business. Avoid them is my advice.

I paid another visit to Wilkinson's in Southport and bought a 5DS, part-exchanging 2 older cameras. Their part-exchange offer was decent rather than generous, but I expect it was he same as anywhere else. That, plus another discount, meant I was only poor rather than destitute after buying the camera [people without a sense of humour may not 'get' that straight away]. As ever, the staff were straightforward and helpful, as well as being knowledgeable about a couple of questions related to batteries, data cards and so on. I am as impressed as I always have been. Nice to have a branch near home!

I have visited my local shop and always come back satisfied (and sometimes with less money in the bank than I had planned); the deals are good, and they are prepared to work hard to match prices with those of competitors. The staff at the local shop have always been helpful, pleasant and well-informed. On the last point, if they dont know they have told me straight away and found someone who can tell me exactly what I have wanted to know. There is a feeling of quality about the shop, too.

After buying colour calibration monitor from Wilkinson Cameras I was told that I needed extra equipment to use the monitor software that they would sell me for £150. Had I known beforehand I wouldnt have bought the monitor. Would not buy from them again.

Go into their shops and you will find that the staff know their business. I do have some issues over the web site e.g. wish list shows only a few of the entries - however I am buying camera kit and not web design. The prices are very competetive and they have always struck me as being true to their word, which is all I ask from any retailer.

Small update to last review.
6.Sensor on my new camera is very dirty. It looks worse than sensors on camera being used for months in rough conditions. Nice. But of course, I don`t know if its a Canon or retailer fault.

I bought a Canon 40D body from Wilkinson Cameras. It was my first and...last order from them.
Why?
1. Website.
Website is NOT updated as it should be. Before order, I did a quick check if 40D body is still available. It was, but ONLY on website. I made my order early morning, and about afternoon I received email saying that item, which I "bought" is not available, and will be back in stock in next few days. Nice: they selling items which they really don`t have.
2. Emails.
They answer emails only when they need to. Of course I have to mention, that customer service guy(s) are very kind etc. But it doesn`t really matter when there are so many problems.
3. Payment.
My card was charged before even my item was in stock. Nice: they take your money before even having item you are paying for.
4. Delivery.
"Next day delivery" is compulsory. But in my situation it was "next week delivery". So, why have to pay for "next day"? Its no customer mistake that they can`t send item which they "sold".
5. Item.
I ordered and paid for a "Canon 40D body", but I`ve been offered a part of "KIT" version in plain white box etc.
I really couldn`t wait next few days (or maybe weeks?), so I had to agree, but again - you can receive something different you have ordered. Thanks God they asked before they sent it to me. But its only a partial excuse.
Conclusion: Of course, probably there are worse online shops. But there are plenty of better as well. And there is plenty of room for improvements in Wilkinson Cameras.

I ordered my camera from the Wilkinson cameras website and paid for the next day service. It arrived just after 10am the next day.
The price was competitive and the parcel packed very well.
A very reliable and prompt service. I will definitely shop with them again

I bought a Tamron 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di ll from Wilkinson Cameras although there were a little bit more expensive than some of the other shops (+ £20), they had stock and I couldnt wait a couple of weeks.
You pay for next day delivery on all orders, however it should be noted that you need to place the order before 10am or the item will be delivered in 48 hours which I found a bit mean considering most shops have a 2pm cut-off for next day. Saying that, the goods arrived well packaged and early on the second day.
It wasnt necessary for me to speak to anyone personally for this order but at the same time an email to their sales address remains unanswered so there isnt much of a personal touch.
Overall the transaction was good enough but it would have been better if they made it clear that there was a 10am cut off for next day delivery (you need to find it via looking at their terms and conditions page on their site) especially as you pay a premium for this service.
I would probably shop with Wilkinson again, but only if they had stock of a product I couldnt get elsewhere.
